A BOON AND A BLESSING
The total amount raised for 2008 was $7,700 down by about $800 or 10% from 2007. The number of walkers was down by 30% but the amount raised by our top fundraisers almost doubled over last year and this was key to minimizing the decrease. We believe this drop in the number of walkers was due to people attending a national charity walk which was held the same day. Although the final tally was a disappointment, we are encouraged by the increase in support from the business community and the great success of those walkers who came this year. With over 20,000 homes with pets in our county, and dozens of individuals and businesses who benefit financially from our pets, we see great potential to grow the proceeds by tens of thousands of dollars annually. The Walk-a-dog-a-thon is our flagship event and the healthiest and most enjoyable way for the community to support the operation of the shelter.

WINNERS
Although a few won top honors for their fundraising prowess, every single walker is equally appreciated for their effort. By putting their compassion in action, these wonderful individuals are all heroes to the desperate dogs and cats in our community. All participants are winners on Walk Day.
